Getting started

How do I connect my Hue Bridge?

Open HueCommand (on the App Store it is called Command for Philips Hue) on a device that is on the same Wi-Fi network as your Hue Bridge. The app looks for bridges on your network. Tap your Bridge, then press the round button on top of the Bridge when the app asks. You have about a minute to press it.

Which Hue Bridge models are supported?

The square Hue Bridge (v2) and newer. The original round Hue Bridge (v1) is not supported because it does not have the Hue CLIP v2 API that HueCommand uses.

Can I try the app without a Bridge?

Yes. On first launch you can explore a demo home, so you can see the whole app before you set up Hue.

Troubleshooting

The app can't find my Bridge

• Check that your device and the Hue Bridge are on the same Wi-Fi network.
• Restart the Bridge by unplugging it for 10 seconds, then try again.
• If the search still finds nothing, tap "Enter IP address manually" on the setup screen and type your Bridge's IP address. The app also shows manual entry when the search comes up empty.

Pairing failed

Make sure you press the round button on top of your Bridge within a minute of the app asking, then try again.

An effect stops when I leave the app

Candle Flicker and Fireplace keep running after you leave the app only when every color light in the room supports Hue's built-in effect. Other effects run while the app is open. Tap "Keep it on" if you want the effect to stay. Music sync only runs while the app is open.

Using features

How do I add widgets to my Home Screen?

Long press on your Home Screen, tap the + button, search for Command, and choose the small widget (one room) or the medium widget (up to four rooms). To pick which rooms appear, long press the widget and choose Edit Widget. Widgets require HueCommand Pro.

What is circadian lighting?

HueCommand has four circadian presets (Morning, Day, Evening and Night) that set color temperature and brightness for the time of day: cool, bright light in the morning and warm, dim light at night. In a room, tap the circadian chip to apply the preset for the current time. You can let the app use your location so the periods follow your local sunrise and sunset. Circadian presets are free.

How do I sync my lights to music?

Go to the Effects tab, choose a room with color lights, and tap Music Reactive. HueCommand listens through your device's microphone, splits the sound into five frequency bands, and turns that into light color and brightness. The audio is analysed on your device. Music sync is free and runs while the app is open. It is not available on Apple TV, which has no microphone.

What is Entertainment Streaming?

Entertainment Streaming (Pro) sends light updates to a Hue entertainment area up to 25 times per second, for smoother music-reactive lighting. It reacts to sound, not to what is on a screen, and it drives the first five lights in the area. It works on your home Wi-Fi only, not over remote access. Create the entertainment area in the official Philips Hue app first, then pick it in HueCommand.

How does the AI Scene Creator work?

Type a mood such as "warm sunset glow" and the AI Scene Creator suggests a scene with colors and brightness for a room. It runs on your device. It needs a device that supports Apple Intelligence, running iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS 26 or visionOS 26 or later, and it is a Pro feature.

How does geofencing work?

Geofencing (Pro, iPhone and iPad) sets an area around your home and runs a scene you choose when you arrive and another when you leave. You can set the radius from 200 to 1,000 meters. It needs "Always" location permission so iOS can tell the app when you cross the boundary.

How do I back up my Hue Bridge?

Go to Settings > Backup & Restore. HueCommand exports your Bridge's rooms, zones, scenes, smart scenes, automations and devices as a JSON file. When you restore, you can choose to bring back scenes, smart scenes, zones and automations. Backup is a Pro feature.

Can I connect more than one Hue Bridge?

Yes, with Pro. Each Bridge keeps its own rooms, scenes and state, and all bridges appear together on the Rooms tab. The free version supports one Bridge.

Apple Watch, Mac, Apple TV and Vision Pro

How do I set up the Apple Watch app?

The watch app comes with HueCommand for iPhone. If it is not on your watch, install it from the Watch app on your iPhone. The watch sends your taps through your paired iPhone, so HueCommand needs to be set up on the iPhone first.

What can I do on Apple Watch?

See your rooms and how many lights are on, turn a room on or off, switch single lights, and use All Off. The watch app does not have scenes or brightness control.

Does HueCommand work on Mac?

Yes, on macOS 14 or later. It is a windowed Mac app with menus, right-click actions on rooms and keyboard shortcuts (⌘1 to ⌘5 for the tabs, ⌘R to refresh). The Mac app does not have widgets, Control Center controls or geofencing.

Does HueCommand work on Apple TV?

Yes, on tvOS 17 or later. Use the Siri Remote to control rooms, lights, brightness and scenes, and hold Select for quick actions. Apple TV connects over your home network, so set up remote access on your iPhone or iPad. Apple TV has no music sync, Entertainment Streaming or AI scenes.

Does HueCommand work on Apple Vision Pro?

Yes. It is a native visionOS app with visionOS hover effects. visionOS draws them itself, so the app never sees where you look. It does not have widgets or geofencing.
