Available Effects

• Candle Flicker — Warm, gentle flickering that mimics a real candle flame. Soft orange and amber tones with subtle brightness variations. Perfect for dinner or relaxation.
• Fireplace Glow — Warm orange-red dancing light that recreates the feel of sitting by a fire. Deeper and more dynamic than the candle effect.
• Ocean Waves — Rolling blue-green transitions that evoke calm ocean waters. Slow, rhythmic color shifts between deep blue and seafoam green.
• Northern Lights — Flowing green-purple aurora patterns. Ethereal color transitions that move across your lights like the real aurora borealis.
• Thunderstorm — Dramatic white flashes against deep blue ambient light. Simulates lightning with random timing and intensity for a moody atmosphere.

How It Works

Effects are orchestrated by HueCommand's animation engine running on your iPhone. The app sends rapid color and brightness changes to your lights in real time, creating smooth animated patterns across all your lights simultaneously.

The animation engine coordinates multiple lights so the effect flows naturally across a room rather than every light doing the same thing at the same time. A fireplace effect looks different on each light, just like real firelight casts different shadows in different directions.

Adjustable Speed & Intensity

Every effect can be tuned to your preference:

• Speed — Control how fast the effect animates. Slow and subtle for background ambiance, or fast and dramatic for impact.
• Intensity — Adjust how dramatic the color and brightness changes are. A subtle candle flicker for reading, or an intense thunderstorm for movie night.

The same effect can feel completely different at different speed and intensity settings. A slow, low-intensity northern lights effect is calming. A fast, high-intensity one is mesmerizing.

Works with Any Color Hue Light

Effects work with any Hue light that supports color:

• White and Color Ambiance bulbs
• Hue Play bars
• Hue Lightstrip Plus

• Any other color-capable Hue light

The more color lights you have in a room, the more immersive the effects become. A single bulb running the fireplace effect is nice. Five lights running it together transforms the entire room.
