Every HueCommand feature, in one place

What HueCommand is

HueCommand (listed on the App Store as Command for Philips Hue) controls Philips Hue lights through your Hue Bridge on your home network. It runs on iPhone, iPad, iPhone Duo, Mac, Apple TV, Apple Vision Pro and Apple Watch, and it is available in 9 languages.

Most of the app is free. Features marked "(Pro)" below need a Pro subscription or the one-time Lifetime unlock. You do not need an account to use HueCommand, and a demo mode lets you try the app before you connect a Bridge.

Light control

Tap any light to open its controls. What you see depends on what the light supports.

• On/off and brightness: a brightness slider up to 100 percent, with plus and minus buttons for small steps.
• Color wheel: pick any color for a color light. Harmony guides can mark matching colors on the wheel: Off, Complement, Analogous, Triadic or Split.
• Color temperature: white light from warm 2000K to cool 6500K.
• Gradient lights: for Hue gradient lightstrips and similar lights, set separate color points along the light.
• Wake-up and wind-down: on lights that support Hue's sunrise and sunset effects, start one with a length from 10 to 120 minutes.
• Identify: make a light signal so you can find it.
• Power-on behavior: choose what a light does when it gets power back: Last State, Warm White, Full Brightness or a custom brightness and color temperature.
• Rename a light from its menu.

Rooms

The Rooms tab shows every room on your Bridge as a card with how many lights are on. Tap a card to switch the room on or off, or open it for more.

• All On and All Off switch every light in the house at once.
• Zones from your Hue Bridge appear in their own section and work like rooms.
• Room brightness with Brighter and Dimmer shortcuts.
• Room Color Picker: color the whole room, or each light on its own.
• Rename and rearrange rooms from the room's menu.

Scenes and AI scenes

The Scenes tab lists the scenes saved on your Bridge, grouped by room, with search. Tap a scene to activate it.

• Create a scene from scratch, from the current state of your lights, or from a photo (the app picks colors from the image). New scenes are saved to your Hue Bridge.
• Dynamic scenes: give a scene a palette of colors and a speed, and the Bridge animates through them.
• Templates: 25 ready-made palettes in five groups (Warm, Cool, Vivid, Natural and Focus). Apply one to a room or save it as a scene.
• Smart scenes from your Hue Bridge are listed too.
• AI Scene Creator (Pro): describe a mood in your own words and get a scene with colors and brightness for a room. It runs on your device. It needs a device that supports Apple Intelligence, running iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS 26 or visionOS 26 or later.

Effects and music

The Effects tab has five animated effects for a room's color lights: Candle Flicker, Fireplace, Ocean Waves, Northern Lights and Thunderstorm (sudden bright flashes).

• Candle Flicker and Fireplace use Hue's built-in effect when every color light in the room supports it, so they keep going after you leave the app.
• Other effects run while the app is open. Tap "Keep it on" if you want the effect to stay after you leave.
• Music Reactive: free. Every color light in the room reacts to sound from your device's microphone. Audio is analysed on your device, and music sync runs only while the app is open. A sensitivity control lets you set how strongly lights react.
• Entertainment Streaming (Pro): sends fast updates (up to 25 per second) to a Hue entertainment area over your home Wi-Fi. It reacts to sound, not to what is on a screen. It drives the first five lights of the area, one frequency band per light. You create entertainment areas in the official Philips Hue app. It does not work over remote access.

Goodnight and circadian lighting

• Goodnight: free. In any room, choose a fade to off over 1, 5, 15, 30 or 60 minutes. The Bridge gets one command with the fade time, so the fade keeps going after you close the app.
• Circadian presets: free. Four presets (Morning, Day, Evening and Night) set color temperature and brightness for the time of day. Tap the circadian chip in a room to apply the current one. You can let the app use your location so the periods follow your local sunrise and sunset, or keep a fixed schedule.

Automations, Day Planner and geofencing

• Automations (Pro): build timers, wake-up and go-to-sleep routines, and motion sensor triggers with a room, a scene, repeat days and a fade time. Automations are saved on your Hue Bridge. A template library shows the automation types your Bridge offers.
• Day Planner (Pro): a timeline of your day. Tap the timeline to add a time slot, give it a scene and a fade of up to 30 minutes. HueCommand itself switches the scenes at the right time.
• Geofencing (Pro, iPhone and iPad): set a scene for arriving home and another for leaving, with a radius from 200 to 1,000 meters. It needs "Always" location permission.

Remote access and multiple Bridges

• Remote access (Pro): control your lights away from home through the Philips Hue cloud. You sign in on Philips Hue's own page with your Hue account, and HueCommand never sees your password. The access tokens are stored on your device. Set it up in Settings > Remote Access on iPhone, iPad, Mac or Vision Pro.
• Multiple Bridges (Pro): connect more than one Hue Bridge and control them all from one Rooms view. The free version supports one Bridge.

Widgets, Control Center and Siri

• Home Screen widgets (Pro): a small widget for one room and a medium widget for up to four rooms, each with an on/off toggle.
• Control Center, Lock Screen and Action button (Pro): add a room on/off toggle. This needs iOS 18 or later.
• Siri and Shortcuts: free on your home network. Actions include Activate Scene, Toggle Light and Set Light Brightness. Siri phrases include "Toggle light with Command" and "Activate scene with Command". With Pro and remote access set up, these actions can also reach your lights away from home.
• Focus filter: pick a scene to turn on when a Focus starts.

Every Apple device

iPhone and iPad

All features are available, including widgets, Control Center controls and geofencing. iPhone Duo is supported on both the inner and outer screens.

Mac

A normal windowed Mac app with menus, right-click actions on rooms and shortcuts: ⌘1 to ⌘5 for Rooms, Scenes, Automate, Effects and Settings, and ⌘R to refresh. It is not a menu-bar app. It has no widgets, Control Center controls or geofencing.

Apple TV

Control rooms, lights, brightness and scenes with the Siri Remote, and hold Select on a room or light for quick actions. Apple TV connects over your home network. Remote access is not set up on Apple TV, so set it up on your iPhone or iPad. Apple TV has no music sync or Entertainment Streaming (it has no microphone) and no AI scenes.

Apple Vision Pro

A native visionOS app with glass windows, a tab bar that floats below the window, and visionOS hover effects. visionOS draws those effects itself, so the app never sees where you look. Vision Pro has no widgets and no geofencing.

Apple Watch

See your rooms with how many lights are on, turn a room on or off, switch single lights, and use All Off. The watch works through your paired iPhone. It has no scenes and no brightness control.

Devices, switches, backup, energy and insights

• Device Hub: free. Every accessory on your Bridge with battery levels, a low battery count, and connection status. Sensors show motion, light level in lux, temperature, and contact and tamper states. Firmware update status, rename and identify are on each device's page.
• Switch Programming (Pro): set what each button on a Hue switch or dimmer does: toggle a room, activate a scene or set brightness.
• Bridge Backup (Pro): export a Bridge's rooms, zones, scenes, smart scenes, automations and device list as a JSON file. Restore scenes, smart scenes, zones and automations to a Bridge, and choose which of those to restore.
• Energy Dashboard (Pro): estimated live power draw, use by room and the last 7 days. Estimates use typical wattage for each bulb type and its brightness. History only counts time while the app is open, so it may count low.
• Usage Insights (Pro): your most-used scenes, busiest hours, recent activity, and suggestions you can turn into an automation.

Privacy

• HueCommand talks to your Hue Bridge on your local network. Your Bridge address and app key are stored in your device's Keychain and on your device, and are never sent to us.
• Remote access goes through the Philips Hue cloud with your own Hue account.
• On iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV the app sends anonymous usage analytics and crash reports through Google Firebase. You can turn this off in Settings > Privacy > Anonymous Analytics. The Apple Watch and Vision Pro apps send no analytics.
