Circadian Rhythm Lighting for Philips Hue
Automatic color temperature that follows the sun. Cool by day, warm by night.
What Is Circadian Rhythm Lighting?
Your body's internal clock — the circadian rhythm — responds to the color of light around you. Cool blue-white light boosts alertness and suppresses melatonin during the day. Warm amber light signals your brain to wind down and prepare for sleep at night.
Circadian lighting automates this transition so your Philips Hue lights match the natural light cycle. Energizing cool tones in the morning, gradually warming through the afternoon, and shifting to deep amber by evening — all without you touching anything.
How HueCommand Does It
HueCommand uses your location to calculate accurate sunrise and sunset times for your exact position, then creates smooth color temperature transitions throughout the day:
- Morning — cool, energizing white (5000-6500K) to help you wake up
- Midday — bright, neutral daylight (4000-5000K) for peak alertness
- Afternoon — gradually warming (3500-4000K) as the day progresses
- Evening — warm white (2700-3000K) for relaxation
- Night — deep amber (2000-2200K) to minimize sleep disruption
The transitions are smooth and continuous — no sudden jumps. Your lights shift so gradually you won't notice the change, but your body will.
Per-Room Control
Not every room needs the same schedule. HueCommand lets you enable circadian rhythm on a room-by-room basis.
Keep your home office cool and focused all day long while your bedroom shifts warm in the evening. Leave the kitchen on a standard schedule while the nursery follows a gentle wind-down curve. Each room gets its own circadian profile that you can customize independently.
Privacy: Location Never Leaves Your Device
HueCommand uses your location only for calculating sunrise and sunset times. Your coordinates are processed entirely on-device and are never transmitted to any server — not to HueCommand, not to Philips Hue, not to anyone.
You can verify this in our privacy policy. We don't collect location data. Period.

Better Than Hue's Built-In Option
The official Philips Hue app has a basic "natural light" automation, but it's limited and buried deep in the settings. It offers minimal customization and doesn't give you per-room control.
HueCommand's circadian engine gives you per-room profiles, location-aware sunrise/sunset calculations, smooth continuous transitions, and a clear interface to see exactly what's happening and when. It just works — enable it once and forget about it.
