Overview
HueCommand controls your Philips Hue lights directly over your local network. We don't ask you to create an account, we don't sell data, and we don't track you across other apps or websites. To keep the app reliable and improve it, the app sends anonymous usage analytics and crash reports to Google Firebase. None of this data is linked to your identity, and you can turn it off at any time.
Local Network Communication
HueCommand talks directly to your Philips Hue Bridge over your local Wi-Fi network. Your bridge details (IP address and application key) are stored only in your device's Keychain and in the app's on-device storage. They are never sent to us.
Analytics & Diagnostics (Google Firebase)
On iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV, HueCommand uses Google Firebase to understand how the app is used and to fix problems:
- Firebase Analytics — usage events (for example, app launches, screens viewed, whether a light was toggled or a scene was activated, that an arrive/leave automation ran (never its name or your location), and paywall views), together with a random Firebase app-instance identifier, app version, device model, operating system version, and the approximate country or region that Google derives from your connection.
- Firebase Crashlytics — crash reports and related diagnostic and performance data (stack traces, device model, OS version, free memory and disk space at the time of a crash).
- Firebase Remote Config — lets the app download configuration values (for example, turning a feature on or off) without an app update. The app fetches this configuration from Google; it does not send usage data.
This data is not linked to your identity and does not include your name, email address, Hue account, or the names of your rooms, lights, or scenes. HueCommand does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA), does not ask for tracking permission, does not show ads, and does not use this data for advertising or to track you across other companies' apps or websites.
The Apple Watch and Apple Vision Pro apps do not include Firebase and send no analytics or crash data.
How to opt out
Open the app and go to Settings > Privacy, then turn off Anonymous Analytics. This immediately stops the app's usage events, Firebase Analytics collection and Crashlytics crash reporting. The app still fetches Remote Config settings so features keep working.
Data retention
Analytics event data is retained for the period configured in our Google Analytics property (Google offers 2 or 14 months), after which it is deleted automatically. Crashlytics crash reports are retained for 90 days, per Firebase's documentation.

Hue Remote Access (Optional)
If you turn on Remote Access to control your lights away from home, HueCommand connects to the Philips Hue cloud (api.meethue.com) operated by Signify. You sign in with your Hue account through Philips Hue's own sign-in page (OAuth 2.0); HueCommand never sees your Hue password. The access tokens that let the app reach your bridge are stored on your device, and your light commands are sent to the Hue cloud and handled under Signify's privacy notice. If you don't use Remote Access, nothing is sent to the Hue cloud.
Subscriptions & Purchases
HueCommand offers optional in-app purchases processed by Apple's App Store and managed by RevenueCat. We never see your payment details. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID along with App Store purchase and subscription information (such as product, purchase date, and renewal status) so it can confirm which features you've unlocked. This purchase history is not linked to your identity.
Data We Do Not Collect
- Names, email addresses, or account information (in the app)
- Location data (used on-device only for sunrise/sunset calculations and arrive/leave automations; it is processed on your device and never transmitted)
- Advertising identifiers
- The names or contents of your rooms, lights, scenes, or automations
- Microphone audio (used only in real time for music-reactive features and Entertainment streaming; never recorded or transmitted)
This Website
huecommand.com uses Google Analytics 4, with Google acting as our data processor, to understand which pages are useful. It records the pages you view, the site that referred you, your approximate location (country or city, derived from your IP address; Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses), your device, browser and screen type, and these events: clicks on App Store links and which link was used, other outbound link clicks, the start of the videos on the page, and which home-page questions you open. We never use Google Analytics for advertising: Google signals and ad personalization are turned off, and ad storage is always denied.
We use Google Consent Mode. If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, analytics cookies stay off unless you choose Accept in the cookie banner. Elsewhere, analytics is on by default and you can turn it off with Reject in the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page; your choice is saved in your browser's local storage.
Links from this website to the App Store include an App Store campaign token (for example ct=web-home-hero). This is Apple's own attribution: App Store Connect shows us, in aggregate, how many App Store page views and downloads came from each link. It tells us nothing about who you are. The site uses no ad tracking.
If you use the feedback form on our Support page, we receive the category, your message, and your email address if you choose to include it, and use them only to respond to you.
