Create Custom Philips Hue Scenes

Static scenes, dynamic animations, and a visual builder — all saved to your Hue Bridge.

What Are Hue Scenes?

Scenes save a specific configuration of your lights — colors, brightness, and effects — so you can recall them instantly with a single tap. Think of a scene as a lighting preset: "Movie Night" dims the living room to warm amber, "Focus" sets your office to cool white at full brightness.

Scenes in HueCommand are stored directly on your Hue Bridge, so they work even when the app isn't running. They persist across restarts, integrate with automations, and can be triggered by Siri.

Custom Scene Builder

HueCommand's visual scene builder makes creating custom scenes straightforward. Pick which lights to include, set individual colors and brightness for each light, name your scene, and save.

The builder shows you a live preview of every light in the scene. Adjust one light without affecting the others. Reorder, add, or remove lights at any time. When you're done, the scene is saved to your Hue Bridge via the CLIP v2 API — ready to activate instantly.

Static vs Dynamic Scenes

Static scenes set fixed colors and brightness values. Every time you activate the scene, your lights go to exactly the same state. Consistent, predictable, instant.

Dynamic scenes cycle through a color palette over time. Configure the speed, the colors in the palette, and whether the transition is smooth or abrupt. Dynamic scenes are perfect for parties, relaxation, or subtle background ambiance that keeps a room feeling alive.

Scenes Stored on Your Bridge

Every scene you create in HueCommand is saved directly to your Philips Hue Bridge using the CLIP v2 API. This means your scenes are not trapped in the app — they persist across app restarts, work with Hue automations, and can be triggered by Siri Shortcuts.

If you delete HueCommand, your scenes stay on the bridge. If you switch phones, your scenes are still there. Your lighting presets live on your local network, not in someone else's cloud.

Requirements

Creating and activating static scenes is a free feature. Dynamic scenes and the full template gallery require HueCommand Pro (monthly, yearly, or lifetime subscription).
