HueCommand for Apple Vision Pro
Native visionOS app — not iPad compatibility mode. Built for spatial computing from the ground up.
Native visionOS, Not a Scaled iPad App
HueCommand runs as a native visionOS application on Apple Vision Pro. This isn't the iPad version running in compatibility mode — it's a purpose-built spatial experience that takes full advantage of the Vision Pro's unique capabilities.
Every view, interaction, and animation has been adapted for the spatial computing environment. The app feels at home alongside your other visionOS apps, not like a flat rectangle floating in space.
Glass Background Adaptation
HueCommand's UI uses the visionOS glass material system — the same translucent, depth-aware backgrounds used by Apple's own apps. Windows adapt to the lighting and environment around you, creating a sense of physical presence.
The app's glassmorphic dark theme on iOS translates naturally to visionOS glass materials. Controls float with depth, cards have subtle dimension, and the entire interface feels like a real object in your space rather than a flat screen.
Ornament Tab Bar
Navigation uses the visionOS ornament pattern — a floating tab bar attached to the edge of the window rather than embedded inside it. This is the standard visionOS navigation paradigm, giving you quick access to rooms, scenes, effects, and settings without consuming content space.
The ornament sits below the main window with a subtle connection line, exactly as Apple's Human Interface Guidelines prescribe for visionOS apps.
Eye-Tracking & Hover Effects
Every interactive element in HueCommand responds to eye-tracking hover states. Look at a light card and it subtly lifts and highlights. Look at a scene and it scales up slightly, indicating it's ready to be selected with a pinch gesture.
- Light cards — Highlight on gaze, tap to toggle, long-look to open detail controls
- Scene tiles — Lift on hover with color preview, pinch to activate
- Sliders — Brightness and color temperature sliders respond to indirect pinch-and-drag gestures
- Buttons — Standard visionOS hover expansion on all interactive elements
These aren't cosmetic additions — they're essential for usability on Vision Pro, where your eyes are the cursor and your fingers are the click.
All Features Available
The visionOS version of HueCommand includes every feature from the iOS app:
- Room & zone control — Browse all your Hue rooms and control lights individually or in groups
- Scene activation — Activate any scene with a glance and a pinch
- Light effects — Candle, fireplace, northern lights, and all animated effects
- Remote access — Control lights away from home via Hue Remote API
- Color wheel — Full color picker adapted for spatial interaction
- Multi-bridge support — Manage multiple Hue bridges from one spatial window
Nothing is missing or stripped down. If it works on iPhone, it works on Vision Pro.
Same Bridge Communication
HueCommand on Vision Pro communicates with your Hue bridge using the exact same protocols as the iOS version — local CLIP v2 API when on the same network, Hue Remote API when away. Bridge discovery, authentication, and command execution all work identically.
Since Apple Vision Pro connects to your home Wi-Fi, local bridge communication is fast and responsive. Control your lights from your couch while immersed in a spatial computing environment.
Privacy on Vision Pro
HueCommand's privacy-first approach extends fully to visionOS. The app does not access, store, or transmit any spatial or eye-tracking data beyond what visionOS provides for standard UI interaction. No room mapping data, no gaze logs, no spatial analytics.
Your light control commands go directly to your Hue bridge — locally or via the Hue Remote API. No third-party servers, no cloud processing, no data collection. The same privacy guarantees you get on iOS apply on Vision Pro.
